Currently running: a fanfic contest and a poetry contest.
Ongoing: Name That Sailor Scout weekly special quiz.
This contest is currently running.
This ongoing contest is for creative fanfic authors who'd like to show off their fanfic to more readers.
Winning entries are posted in the
fanfic section
on
Sailor Moon Snipits. Please see the
fanfic section
for examples of fanfics that are appropriate for this website.
Members are asked to submit original fanfics with the following guidelines:
-
file format
- any document that can be opened in Microsoft Word, TextEdit, or OpenOffice Writer are acceptable. Basic
HTML is also acceptable. If you use something that I can't easily re-format, I may ask you to resubmit it in a format that is
easier for me to modify for use on this website. This website is coded with HTML and CSS. I have pre-specified CSS styles, so please don't use your own.
I will discard them.
-
characters
- you may include any Sailor Moon characters and any original characters. The fanfic must be Sailor Moon
themed. Crossovers with other anime or manga series are okay, but you'll have a more difficult time
winning if I don't know the other series. If you want to know if it's okay to do a crossover with a
specific series, ask me on the message board or send a Neomail.
-
quality
- please, make every effort to use correct spelling and grammar. It
doesn't have to be formal English, but pay attention to your verb conjugations (don't switch between past,
present, or future tenses within a sentence;
it's confusing). No run-on sentences unless you have a really good reason to use one. Use semi-colons
properly. If you're not sure, just use a comma. Use a thesaurus! Repetition can become boring if not used
as a rhetorical device.
Please keep the content to maximum of a PG-13 rating. Graphic gore, graphic violence, and graphic sexual
content are not appropriate for this website. I may ask you to revise things if I think they're too graphic.
-
submission
-
E-mail
the file as an attachment. If you send a link to the fanfic elsewhere online, I won't look at it. Be sure
to include your
Guardians of the Moonlight
username so that I can give credit to the author, and so that I know who to send prizes to on Neopets if
you win. Only members of
Guardians of the Moonlight
may enter.
If your entry wins...
-
I will reformat the text to fit with the style of this website. Using bold and italics for emphasis and such
in your entry are okay. Try to avoid using underlines (they can be confused as links when posted on
a website).
- I will edit spelling and grammar if necessary. If you write with U.S. spelling, I will preserve that. If
you write with Canadian or British spelling, I will preserve that. I may use a thesaurus to change some words
if I find a particular word is repeated too much, or if a synonym may fit the sentence better.
After editing, I will send you a copy for review. With your approval, it will be posted on
Sailor Moon Snipits
in the
fanfic section.

This ongoing contest is for creative poets who'd like to show off their poetry to more readers.
Winning entries will be posted in the
poetry section
on
Sailor Moon Snipits.
Members are asked to submit original poetry with the following guidelines:
-
-
theme
- poetry must be Sailor Moon themed. It doesn't have to obviously Sailor Moon themed, but I should be
able to see something of a connection to Sailor Moon.
-
quality
- please, make every effort to use correct spelling and grammar. Any style of poetry is okay, but
acrostic poetry is not likely to win.
-
submission
-
E-mail
as inline text or as an attachment. If you send a link to the poetry elsewhere online, I
won't look at it. Be sure to include the style of the poetry (if there is no specific style, call it
“free verse”) and your
Guardians of the Moonlight
username so that I can give credit to the author, and so that I know who to send prizes to on Neopets if
you win. Only members of
Guardians of the Moonlight
may enter.

Name That Sailor Scout (NTSS for short) is a weekly special quiz where members have the opportunity to identify the
speaker of a quote from the Sailor Moon series. The quote is displayed on
the guild's main page. NTSS runs
Saturday to Saturday. The answer for the previous NTSS will be posted on the following Saturday, and a new NTSS quote will
be displayed on
the main guild page.
The speaker can be:
- any
major
protagonist (good guys, heroes, heroines) – including Tuxedo Mask, Luna, Artemis, Diana, and anyone
listed under
heroes
on
this page.
- any
major
antagonist (villain) – including all villains named on
this page, excluding the monsters of the day.
- any character who has a “Sailor” name (that includes the Animates)
Guessing:
- Post your guess on the
Guardians of the Moonlight
message board
in a post with the subject “NTSS” to make sure it isn't missed.
-
Anyone except for Lanisatu and the person who submitted the quote for that week may guess the identity
of the character who said the quote.
- No asking Lanisatu or the person who submitted the NTSS quote for the week who said the quote. If you
do, we are free to lie and say something silly. (while amusing, this doesn't help you win)
- Please don't use a search engine to find out who said the quote. That's cheating!
It's more fun to try and guess it on your own ^_^
- If you want to guess multiple times, keep in mind that you have to clearly say which is your final
guess. You can change your guess; but you can't guess multiple characters and hope to win.
Okay:
Guessing Lana. Then you change your mind and say you are guessing Chloe instead.
Not okay:
Guessing Lana, Chloe, and Lois. (all at once and not specifying your final decision)
Even if one is correct, it's not fair for you to get a prize.
Prizes:
The prize is usually a food item such as an omelette or a jelly. Bigger prizes are for bigger contests ^_^
